Our ancestors did not make Motanka faces, because they believed that negative energy could enter the doll through the eyes. At the same time, since the motanka is supposed to protect a person and his home, they either did not make their face at all, or they wove a solar cross - a sacred sign of love, prosperity and luck.

I received my package today, two days before Christmas, including this shirt, which won't be given as a gift until just after Christmas, so I can't comment specifically on this item. I was very happy that the package made it from Ukraine to Ohio in time for Christmas, and I was very moved by the care and attention that went into the wrapping, with a little surprise tucked into the ribbon on each package. My made in Ukraine Ukrainian flag came hand wrapped with a bow tied around a compostable paper wrapper saying from Ukraine with love. Although I am flying this flag on my home, it arrived ready to give as-is as a gift. My package came with a little organic business card with flower seeds embedded in it.
